Subject: Superintendent Finalist Community Forum - 15 October

Few things are as important to the City of Cambridge as having a School Superintendent who can work with all the District's various stakeholders, to include both the City and numerous community partners, to build a school system that works for everyone. To that end, there is a community forum to meet the Superintendent Finalists this Thursday from 5:30-8:30 PM at CRLS’ Fitzgerald Auditorium. My understanding is that the School Committee hopes to pick a Superintendent by the end of the month and that the names of the finalists will be made public this coming week. I’ve pasted the email I received from CPS about the Finalists forum below.

You can read more about the Superintendent search here.

Thanks a lot and enjoy the long weekend.

To The Honorable Members of the Cambridge City Council:

Please be advised that the Cambridge School Committee will be holding a Community Forum at which members of the public may meet the finalist candidates for the position of Superintendent of Schools on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Auditorium at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. All Cambridge City Councilors are cordially invited to attend.

Names of finalist candidates will be announced next week. Candidates were selected by a 19-member Superintendent Search Interview Committee, which included a broad and diverse range of stakeholders, including School Committee members, parents, teachers, non-profit, business, and higher education representatives. This community forum will be followed by interviews to be conducted by the full School Committee on October 16.

A list of those participating on the Superintendent Search Interview Community and a flyer announcing the Community Forum is attached for your information.

Best regards,

Barbara J. Allen
