Subject: Neighborhood Nine Study Update 30 June and a few other things

FYI, folks.

I'll be out of town for this meeting, but these are generally pretty interesting meetings (I think).

Come to the next Neighborhood Nine Study Update community meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 from 6:30 P. M. to 8:45 P. M. at the Graham and Parks School, 44 Linnaean Street. For more information contact Elaine Thorne at 617/349-4648 or ethorne@cambridgema.gov.

You can learn more about Neighborhood Nine at http://www.cambridgema.gov/cdd/cp/neigh/9/area9.html

I hope to see some of you at tonight's meeting about the upcoming Raymond Park shared off-leash space in the mornings at the G&P school at 7 PM.

And at tomorrow's Ordinance Committee meeting at 5 PM at City Hall to review the Avon Hill Neighborhood Conservation District.

Finally- Lesley's proposed zoning passed Monday night with an 8-1 vote. Without getting into specifics, the new zoning will allow non-dorm use on the western parking lots to a height of 40 feet, increases building setbacks in a variety of areas, changes the use allowance of the "Church Lot" to allow the Art Institute of Boston to move onto that space and allows for about 100,000 sf of development behind the old Sears Buildings. Lesley is only planning the AIB project now, but it wanted to change the zoning all at once to allow for future university expansion, rather than to keep going back to the BZA or the City Council for changes. Lesley has agreed to pay 500,000 dollars to a street improvement fund for Mass Ave from Harvard Square to Porter Square as their projects get built, plus they've committed to sharing the institutional space with local groups to an undefined extent, will have a construction mitigation plan and a variety of other things outlined in a separate letter from Lesley.

Pretty much anything Lesley wants to do requires a Special Permit, so I'm sure there will be a number of meetings about any project before things move very far.

My list doesn't extend much down Concord Ave, so please forward this email to anyone you think may be interested.

Thanks a lot and take care.

Craig
